Begin!

What if you were encouraged from a young age to listen to that still small voice within as a guide to creating a life that you would find interesting, challenging and joyful?  What if you believed the sentiment that it is never too late to become what you might have been?  What if you started right here, right now to discover who you are truly meant to be?

The artist Auguste Renoir was said to have painted subjects for whom a light from within seemed to glow outward.  The people he painted had a kind of internal luminosity.  I have loved this pairing of words since I first encountered it many years ago, and today I use it as a metaphor to describe the purpose and the self-knowledge that I believe we all carry within us.  It’s in us but we may not be aware of it because we’ve never been encouraged to reflect upon it or it has been squelched in us by others who did not know their own potential.  When we turn our attention to our interests, strengths, values and desires, we give them power to create light and energy in our lives.  We bring light from inside us and use it to illuminate our path.

I believe that I am able to see the glow in others even when they cannot and that I can work with them to discover their own source of light within.  So I create this blog to compliment my coaching business Internal Luminosity.  On the blog, I hope to inspire you to reflect on the unique qualities that converge in you to create your light.  I will attempt to write posts that give you pause, cause you to think and provide you with tools to move forward.  In my work as a coach, I provide a partnership that supports and challenges the individuals I work with to define goals, create visions, identify obstacles and follow through on plans to reach their aspirations.

Fifteen years of experience in gifted education have led to a special interest in working with teens and adults who are creative, multi-talented and highly intelligent.  I partner with these individuals to identify and honor their unique abilities and experiences so that they might gain the confidence needed to fully express themselves and their talents in their work, relationships and leisure time.

With this in mind, posts will cover a range of topics to capture the range of unique individuals that I hope to inspire to create a life worth living.  Check in regularly, as you never know what might strike a chord with you!  If you’re interested in learning more about working with me in a coaching relationship, please get in touch with me at luminouscoaching@gmail.com.  Stay tuned for future invitations to participate in group coaching as well as book discussions.

Right here.  Right now.  Begin!

  1. Well said! It reminds me of something that really struck me yesterday. When someone said to Gayle that it must be hard being Oprah's best friend, she said, "I feel like I'm standing in her light; never feel like I'm in her shadow." I'm sure that is how everyone feels about you. The light you spread makes us all shine. Best of luck!
